Chief Superintendent Recruitment

Feb. 22, 2018

As announced earlier this school year, CBE Chief Superintendent David Stevenson has announced his retirement effective April 26, 2018. The Board of Trustees has contracted a recruitment firm, Optimum Talent, to support a nation-wide search for a new Chief Superintendent. Click here to view the job profile and for more details.

The Chief Superintendent is the Board of Trustees’ only employee and has leadership and responsibility for the overall operation and performance of the school district and student learning as it relates to accomplishing the Board’s Results policies. The successful candidate will guide and develop the long-term strategic vision for the CBE; prioritizing the support of student success while balancing parent expectations and the management of our system within the funding we receive. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, ambassador and promoter of the CBE and public education who is visible across the system and community.

The Board is working towards having a new Chief Superintendent in place by the next school year. Details about the transition period will be shared once they are confirmed.

The Board of Trustees thanks David Stevenson for his leadership and direction. His more than 40 years of service at the Calgary Board of Education has made a difference in the lives of countless students, staff and Calgary families. We wish him all the best in his retirement.
