Four CBE students have been selected by Alberta Education to become members of the Minister’s Youth Council.

A total of 138 applications were reviewed and 64 interviews were conducted. Alberta Education commended the students for their passion for leadership and their desire to make a difference in Alberta’s education system.

The following four students from the Calgary Board of Education have been selected to be part of the 2020-21 Minister’s 41-member Youth Council:

Azaad Gill, John G. Diefenbaker High School
Sheroog Kubur, Lester B. Pearson High School
Sujit Peramanu, Western Canada High School
Mika Raber, Henry Wise Wood High School

Working at the provincial level, the council will share their varied student perspectives and provide input on educational issues. Collectively, the council members will bring a broad and diverse range of life experiences, knowledge and skills from across the province.

“Alberta is home to some of the brightest minds in the country, and our future is bright, thanks in part to our dedicated and engaged youth,” said Minister of Education Adriana LaGrange. “I look forward to working with my new council to strengthen our education system.”

Congratulations Azaad, Sheroog, Sujit and Mika.
