Glamorgan School Rakes Leaves for Their Neighbours

Oct. 30, 2018

On a beautiful fall day in October, the students of Glamorgan School ventured out into the community to rake leaves for their neighbours.

The initiative was planned as a result of the school’s character education program, the Leader in Me, which places an emphasis on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Habit Two of the Leader in Me program, Begin With the End in Mind, encourages students to plan ahead and set goals. It also encourages students to find ways to be a good citizen, both in the classroom and in the community.

The event was scheduled to take place a week prior, but the winter weather prevented the school from moving forward with the initiative. However, a week later, the weather was perfect for students to make a positive difference for our neighbours, many of whom are elderly. The sun was out, the air was crisp, and students learned that a simple act could brighten someone else’s day.

This event was so successful the school plans to make it an annual school-wide activity.
