Important | CBE Schools Open

Oct. 03, 2018

Update | Schools Open Wednesday, October 3, 2018
Calgary Board of Education schools will be open as usual on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 and yellow school bus service will be running.
As always, we respect parents/guardians right to make their own decisions about sending their children to school. Families and students are assured that all CBE schools will be open to provide a safe and secure environment for attending students.
The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance. Please make sure your child is prepared for the weather and dressed appropriately. Please refer to information about busing and transportation in winter weather posted on our website.
  • Children should be well prepared for the weather and not left unattended at bus stops for any period of time, under any circumstances.
  • Families should ensure that they have back-up care arrangements if transportation is delayed. Children should have a warm place to stay before and after school (i.e. with a neighbour or a nearby relative).
  •  Roads may be congested and slippery resulting in possible traffic and bus delays.
  •  All CBE schools will remain open to provide a safe, warm and secure environment for attending students.
Parents / guardians whose children access yellow school bus service can view the status of their bus using the MyBusStop app. We expect buses will be running late this morning.
If your child will not be attending classes today please ensure you contact your school's attendance line to report the absence.

Oct. 2, 2018

All Calgary Board of Education schools are open to provide a warm and safe place for attending students. We are closely monitoring the weather conditions and have been in close contact with our yellow school bus providers to determine the best decisions for getting home tonight and coming to school tomorrow morning.

We respect that parents/guardians can make their own decisions about their children based on what is best for their family. If you would like to pick your child up early from school today, you are welcome to do so. Our yellow school buses will be running today but we expect delays, particularly for schools with a later dismissal. You can use the MyBusStop app to see real-time information about your child’s yellow school bus. You can get the code from your school office.

All extra-curricular sports and activities scheduled to take place after school dismissal are cancelled today.

Schools will be open on Wednesday, October 3; however, yellow school bus service may be impacted. You should watch your email for updates from the CBE. Information about any service disruptions will be posted on the CBE website (www.cbe.ab.ca) and shared with local media. You can also follow us on Twitter (@yycbedu).

The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance in our decision-making. As always, parents make their own decisions about sending their children to school. Please refer to information about busing and transportation in winter weather.
