Louise Dean School Celebrated International Women’s Day!

Mar. 17, 2021

#ChooseToChallenge

As International Women’s Day approached, Louise Dean School hosted a three-day virtual event for our students and staff to listen and interact with inspirational women across the country. Inspired by the incredible Dr. Jody Carrington, these speakers shared stories and insight ‘to be reminded that we are never meant to do any of this alone, especially the things that require the biggest courage.’ Following the theme of International Women’s Day #ChooseToChallenge, we came together to rise and challenge ourselves, others and our communities.

Twelve inspirational women spoke to students and staff. Each shared a piece of their story. Each inspired our students. Each challenged our students and staff to choose to rise to a challenge and to not let fear stop you – feel it – share it!  By sharing and being in a circle of strength, we all benefit.

Throughout the event, students shared:

“I had no idea others felt the way I do. Thanks for sharing your story. It has helped and I will continue to make good choices.”

Others mentioned:

“I learned something from her – to reach out when I need help. Others are there and willing to help me.”
“I can and will make a difference for my child.”

Staff were inspired as well and have committed to rising to the challenges we each face.

“If we all work together, this will be a better place.”
It was an incredible week! Thanks to Candice, our student intake advisor, for her inspiration and making this happen at Louise Dean School.
