¡Que Pasa! ¡Que Show!

Jun. 06, 2019

On Monday, May 6, nine Spanish bilingual program schools from across the Calgary Board of Education came together at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium for an evening in celebration of Spanish language and culture. The nine Spanish bilingual schools were represented by over 700 student performers in an extravaganza of song, dance and art.  Our Chief Superintendent, Christopher Usih opened this special evening with words of support and encouragement for all Spanish Bilingual schools represented.

Audience members were treated to a program that included songs from various Latin American countries and Spain as well as traditional dances from Spanish-speaking countries. The grand finale was a special treat with all performers filling the stage and aisles to sing together – accompanied by Juno award-winning musician, Oscar Lopez.

A special thank you to all school teachers and Principals involved in the organization of this event. A special thank you to all parents for their support, and to CADME (Canadian Association for the Development of Music Education) for their financial and logistical support. Last but not least, thank you to The Calgary Board of Education Communication Services for creating the Que Pasa video.
