Revised Date for Hub Course Information | High School | Sept. 16, 2020 10:30 AM

Sep. 16, 2020

We wish to thank our families and students for their patience as we work within a brand new system to deliver learning.

It has been just over three weeks since registrations in Hub Online Learning closed. Since then we have worked diligently to schedule the over 3000 high school students into their Hub classes and assign their teachers. We want to provide students with the best learning opportunities possible. To do that, we need to:

  • Assess which subjects have been requested (by how many students and at which priority) from students across the CBE
  • Determine which teachers are available to teach those classes
  • Balance the teachers who will support in-school learning with those supporting hub learning
  • Hire additional teachers to make up the shortfall

At the same time, we're working through a similar process for approximately 15 000 students in Grades 1-9. This is like scheduling and staffing over 30 new schools, and has taken longer than we had hoped.

As a result, we won't be able to provide specific course information to high school students by Sept. 16 as we had planned. We hope to have that information available by the end of day on Sept. 21. While we could have shortened this timeline by restricting the options available to hub students, we believe that it is worth this short delay to give your child richer and more diverse learning opportunities, and we appreciate your patience as we work to that end.
