Health Measures Announced by Alberta Government

On Feb. 8, Premier Jason Kenney announced a plan for the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions beginning on Feb. 14. Until that time, masking and other health measures in our schools remain in effect. Some of the government changes include:

  • Mandatory masking requirements removed for:
    • children 12 and under in all settings as of Feb. 14
    • children and youth in schools for any age as of Feb. 14
  • Alberta will enter Step 2 starting on March 1, if hospitalizations are trending downwards. At that time, the other health measures will be considered for revision.

We know families have many questions about this announcement and what it means for their child. In the next few days, we will review our health measures in view of these changes.

Our schools and workplaces are welcoming, caring, respectful and safe environments and we expect that students, staff and families will conduct themselves accordingly.

More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
