Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have reached agreements in principle, and rotating strike action has been suspended, effective Nov. 21, 2025. 

UPDATE (Oct. 14, 2025​)

Canada Post workers have moved from a full strike to rotating stoppages, allowing some mail delivery, but the national postal service says there will still be uncertainty and delays. This strike will affect the CBE in different ways. Below is a list of contingency plans during a disruption to mail service. Any further questions can be directed to CBE Communications.​​

UPDATE (Dec. 17, 2024)

Canada Post workers returned to work on Dec. 17, 2024, after a month-long strike. Canada Post said there will be delays to postal service throughout the remainder of 2024 and into January 2025. Until those delays are resolved, the CBE will continue to follow the contin​gency plans listed below.

Parents and Students

Scho​​ol Fees

If you have outstanding school fees, you may do the following:

School fees for 2025-26 are due when assigned. 

Refu​nds

Families should expect a two-to-three-week delay in receiving their refund cheque. If you have any questions, please contact Student Fees at StudentFees@cbe.ab.ca.

Transportation

Transportation forms can be submitted through MyCBE/PowerSchool, or at your child’s school.​​

Employees and F​ut​​ure Employees

New Employees

All new employees receive contracts and offer letter packages via email.  Please return these to human resources by replying to the email message. Benefit forms must have the original signed, which you can courier or drop off at the Education Centre Information Desk (1221 – 8 Street S.W.). 

Successful Job Candidates

Successful job candidates will receive contracts and offer letter packages via email.  Please return these to human resources by replying to the email message. If there are any documents that human resources require originals for, you can courier or drop-off at the Education Centre information desk (1221 – 8 Street S.W.). 

Current Employees

Vend​​ors

We encourage all of our suppliers to sign up to receive their payments via Electronic Funds Transfer​ (EFT). There are several benefits to receiving payment in this way, including avoiding any delays in receipt of payment due to the Canada Post strike.

International Students

Letters of acceptance will be emailed as attachments to applicants. Other original documents needing to be returned to applicants will not be mailed until postal service has resumed.​
