Reminder: High school transfer requests due March 15

Dear Grade 9 parents/guardians,

This is a reminder that
High School transfer requests are due by Tuesday, March 152022.  Only students who are interested in attending a high school other than their designated school need to complete the form.  No action is required if students are planning to attend their designated high school in the 2022-2023 school year.

Those families wishing to submit a transfer request please follow the steps identified below.

If you have already submitted a
transfer request no further action is required.

Please contact your school's main office if you have any questions regarding this update.

High school transfer process and request form

Current Grade 9 students are automatically registered for the 2022-23 school year at their designated high school, based on their home address on file with the CBE. For those students who are currently in French Immersion or Spanish Bilingual, they will be registered in their designated high school for that program, unless you contact your current middle/junior high school by March 15, 2022, to request a regular program designation for next year.

If a student is interested in attending a high school other than their designated school, you can request a transfer. CBE has a high school transfer process to help ensure a clear, consistent and equitable process for all students and high schools. We want students to have access to the programming and courses they desire, while we need to balance enrolment across our schools.

High school transfer requests must be submitted by March 15, 2022, to be considered for the 2022-23 school year. You may request a transfer for one of the following reasons:

  • To enrol in an education program not offered at the student's designated school (e.g. International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme or Advanced Placement (AP); CBe-learn or
  • To take a sequence of courses up to the 30-level that is not offered at the student's designated school (e.g. cosmetology, welding and fabrication, culinary arts, and auto mechanics).

You can only choose one program, or one sequence of courses, as the reason for your transfer request.
