CBE Teacher Receives U of C Arch Award

Sep. 17, 2018

Congratulations to Rahim Sajan, the 2018 recipient of the University of Calgary’s Arch Award for Alumni Service.

Sajan is an off-campus coordinator at CBE’s Discovering Choices. Outside of his work with students at the Marlborough and Downtown locations he is an active volunteer who believes in the power of community involvement and in engaging with society.

In his introduction at the Arch Awards, Sajan said, “Teachers are public intellectuals; they are paid by the public to look after the next generation.”

Sajan believes that his life outside of the school is just an extension of his work as a teacher.

“I help students at Discovering Choices connect experiences at school and in life, so they develop depth in decision making for their future careers,” says Sajan.

As a UCalgary Senator, Sajan serves as Chair of the Honorary Degree Committee. He also continues to volunteer with the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine Dean's Talks and has enabled the telling of university research stories through TEDxCalgary.
