Chief Superintendent's Message to the Class of 2022

Jun. 09, 2022

Embrace Change

To the CBE Class of 2022,

Congratulations on reaching this important milestone in your life. You are entering a world of new possibilities. The road ahead ought to inspire a sense of excitement, as well as some apprehension of what comes next!

Here’s the truth: You are ready for this moment. Your time at the Calgary Board of Education has given you the critical thinking skills needed to take on the challenges and seize the opportunities in front of you.

You have honed your ability to adapt to new situations by virtue of living through a period of incredible change. The worldwide pandemic has strengthened your resolve to thrive in the face of uncertainty. Flexibility is but one of the assets that you will take forward as a result.

Through the unique circumstances of isolation requirements, it is also possible that you have spent more time with those closest to you and learned more about the importance of family and friends. These are the people you can lean on if changing times feel overwhelming. You have also created a network of teachers, coaches and mentors who are always there to support your growth.

We are proud of your accomplishments. As you graduate and move into the wider world, I hope you will embrace change at every turn. And, I know I speak for all of us when I say we are excited to see what you will do next.

My heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2022!
