Update | Yellow School Bus Transportation 2016-17

Sep. 14, 2016

Welcome back to another school year. We are privileged to provide yellow school bus transportation for CBE families and continue to work to ensure efficient, safe and reliable service. As we begin a new school year, we are pleased to announce some enhancements and changes to yellow school bus services.

Find your CBE bus stop online

Route maps were posted over the summer. These routes will be frozen and no changes will be made for reasons other than safety until after Thanksgiving.

If you pre-registered your child after the June 12 deadline, your address was not included in building the routes. Students in a regular or alternative language program who were not pre-registered may be beyond the travel distance guidelines to a bus stop and changes will only be considered after mid-October. For students in alternative, non-language programs who access congregated stops beyond the walk guidelines, it is not anticipated that significant changes will be made.

Transportation confirmation email

If you pre-registered for transportation before June 12, you will be receiving an email shortly from CBE Transportation to confirm your registration for yellow school bus transportation for the 2016-17 school year.

Parents that do not wish to continue to use yellow school bus service for the year can cancel the service by clicking on the cancelation link and responding before Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 with no financial penalty. Any cancelations received after that date will be subject to a pro-rated transportation fee.

Transportation fees due beginning in September

The Transportation Fee for 2016-17 is $335 for all yellow school bus riders. Parents are encouraged to use their My CBE Account to make arrangements to pay their transportation fees.

Registered yellow bus riders to receive a new ZPass for 2016-17 and beyond

This fall we will fully implement the use of ZPasses for all CBE yellow school bus riders.

Last summer our bus service providers installed Zonar GPS hardware in all CBE yellow school buses. This technology has allowed CBE Transportation and service providers to track both buses and ridership in real-time, improving student safety and providing more accurate information for transportation planning.

Over the coming weeks, your child will receive their new ZPass for 2016-17. The pass includes your child’s student ID number on the front, and a barcode on the back. It has been placed in a pouch with a lanyard for convenience. This card will be a multi-year bus pass so please keep it safe. There is a $5 charge for a replacement if the card is lost or damaged. You should also cut-up and destroy last year’s ZPass that contained your child’s name on the front as it will no longer work.

Students to begin scanning ZPasses

All students will be required to scan their Zpass each time they enter and exit the yellow school bus. CBE Transportation will be working with our schools, families, and bus drivers to monitor the process over the coming weeks as students adjust to the new routine.

Please know that your child will never be refused bus service if they forget their ZPass. Bus drivers will collect names of students who do not have their bus pass and will notify school administration. However, your school may contact you with reminders that students must carry and scan their ZPass daily.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to make these important transportation changes to enhance student safety.
