Celebrate National Child Day Nov. 20 National Child Day is celebrated annually on Nov. 20 in recognition of Canada’s commitment to upholding the rights of children and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Celebrating International Education Week International Education Week takes place this year from Nov. 12 to 17. CBE 2018 Enrolment Numbers The CBE saw another year-over-year increase in student enrolment for the 2018-19 school year which closely matched projections. First Annual Giving Faire Douglas Harkness School invited students and their families to attend the school’s First Annual Giving Faire held on Friday, Dec. 7, 2017 A Million Cheerios Grade 5 students at Marshall Springs School counted, calculated and collected one million Cheerios during a recent hands-on math learning experience. Aviation Program Takes Flight Teachers Chris Harke, Scott Haskell and Mark Kost at Nelson Mandela High School have designed a program that exposes students to the aviation industry as a potential career path. New Public Schools Named The CBE is pleased to announce the names of the Aboriginal Learning Centre, which moved to its new facility in January and the southeast high school, which is under construction. CBE K-12 Mathematics Strategy Overview During the 2016-17 school year the CBE engaged with parents, students, teachers, mathematicians and post-secondary educators on what they wanted to see in our K-12 Mathematics Strategy.
